Right now, the entire world is in turmoil with the coronavirus, or COVID-19. The World Health Organization (WHO) declared this a pandemic, the last pandemic was in 2009. Most countries have also asked their residents to stay inside. But how do you get through these weeks? You can read all my tips on this blog!
Strong people stand up for themselves, but stronger people stand up for others.
First, it is good to understand why we should stay inside. One infected person will infect about three other people, and three others will infect nine and so on. The coronavirus spreads on average faster than any other virus. The coronavirus has also caused a lot of deaths compared to other viruses. Especially the elderly and people with a weak immune system are at great risk. And so am I, which is why it is extra important for me to stay inside.
Keep a routine
An important tip is to make sure you have a set routine. If you don’t have this, it will be hard to get through these isolated days. Make sure you have a good routine during the week and a looser routine on the weekends. Many studies have shown that people unconsciously have a great need for routines in everyday life.
Stay in contact (online)
Right now it is important to keep in touch with the people around you. Agree a time online to make video calls, for example. Unfortunately, physical contact is strongly discouraged at this time, so please don’t do that. We are all lucky to live in an era where most people also have an online life, like Facebook.
Relax, relax and relax
It is, of course, a fact that this is a stressful period for us all. Make sure you have enough relaxation throughout the day. This can be done by Netflix-ing for an entire afternoon. Or, just like me, by fanatic gaming on a PlayStation. Whatever you like, make sure you take enough time to do it. You could also make a bucketlist of things to do after the crisis. Another great thing to spend your time on is reading all of my previous adventures! 🙂
This is also an important part of your day. Exercise is always important, but it is even more important in this period. For example, you can go for a walk in the forest, but make sure you go alone. Please stay away from other people. You can also exercise at home. For me personally, throwing a ball is enough practice. Check for yourself what is sufficient for you personally.
It is an unusually difficult situation for everyone right now. Therefore, always follow government guidelines to ensure that this passes as quickly as possible. Also, take care of the people with a lower resistance around you. There are many online platforms that connect lonely people to other people, take a look at this.
