During our familiarization trip to Portugal, we stayed at the Vila Galé Ópera and the Villa Batalha Hotel. In this article, I will tell you everything about the Villa Batalha Hotel. This hotel is located in Batalha, which is a small town in Central Portugal. It was a two-hour drive from Lisbon. The hotel is located in a cultural area classified as UNESCO heritage!

“Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier.”

Just like the Vila Galé Ópera hotel, this hotel also offers high-quality accessibility. There are no specific wheelchair accessible rooms, but they can make any room in the hotel accessible. Wondering how? Well, they did some smart thinking and equipped all bathrooms with a roll-in shower and removable grab bars. The hotel also has an SPA, which is equipped with a height-adjustable table. The swimming pool and jacuzzi aren’t equipped with a lift (yet), but luckily you can rent a pool lift from Tourism for All.

Bedroom

We start by reviewing the bedroom, which was amazing for us. When you enter the room, you’ll be blown away by all the space you have. The room can standard accommodate up to two guests, but they can make some kind of exception if you need an extra bed. Luckily, the bed is high enough for a hoist to roll underneath, as you can see in the picture. All the medical equipment was arranged by Tourism for All.

An extra nice feature of the room is the balcony with sliding doors, which is accessible for a smaller wheelchair. Other features of the room are air conditioning, a desk, free Wi-Fi, and TV service.

Bathroom

In comparison to the hotel in Lisbon, the bathroom of Villa Batalha is enormous. As I mentioned earlier, all the bathrooms have a roll-in shower (2 meters x 0.9 meters). If you need a shower chair, it’s good to know that the hotel has different kinds of chairs available. But if you need a shower chair with more support, try to contact Tourism for All.

The roll-under sink is placed on the width of the wall, which gives you plenty of space. Above the sink, you’ll find a huge mirror and a hairdryer. On the right side, there’s a bidet and toilet with grab bars. Unfortunately, the toilet is placed close to the wall, so it’s only accessible from one side.

On the first floor, you’ll find a huge bathroom with a toilet and grab bars. This bathroom is made for people that might need more space for their personal care. There’s no extra charge for using the extra bathroom.

Rating

I’d love to give this hotel a 4,5 out of 5-star rating. This hotel is located in a perfect, quiet location and equipped with great facilities to recharge yourself. Tourism for All can arrange all the necessary equipment, just as a hoist, shower chair, and a pool lift to make your stay complete.
